30 Year Anniversary Gala Day
All registered athletes are invited to our big day this Saturday. Visitors, please bring your ticket books! We are running a 100m handicap and several other events. Trophies & medalions for all events. BBQ fires up early with egg & bacon rolls and will run all day. A gourmet coffee van and a photographer have also been organised.
20 year old Record eclipsed
Tim Coad has finally eclipsed one of the club's longer standing records in the Under 12 boys long jump. The old mark of 5.05m has stood since 1988 and was held by L.Davies. Tim's new record jump was 5.06m. Rarely has 1cm meant so much. Congratulations Tim!
Club & State Championships approaching!
Check the yellow book for details, or ask the committee how to enter for the State Championship events coming up. The Walks (U9 up)& Multi Event (U10 up)championships are on the 21st of Feb in Launceston, and the State Individual championships (U8 up) are on the 7th & 8th of March at the Domain. Entries close on 7 February 2009 - so get those qualifiers in! A good opportunity will be the Southern Allstate meeting at the Domain on the 18th of January.
Entry forms & entrance costs will be announced for the CLAC centre championships in the next week. Competition dates are 7, 21 & 28 February, and is open to all CLAC athletes who have competed in each event at least twice, one of which must have been at CLAC. Club uniforms (polo & black shorts), and 25 badges are compulsary for all championships.
St Helens Gold Medal Day
If you enjoy the 30th anniversary Gala Day, St Helens LAC run a similar day every year called Gold Medal Day. Athletes from 13 clubs attended last year - from Burnie to Huonville. This year it is held on Sunday 25 January during the long weekend. Entries on the day - take your ticket book!
