Top Honours for Alex & Tim

Alex Bessell has been named the runner up in the TLAA Boys Sportsmanship award for 2009/10. The award is the most prestigious award for little athletes, and just 2 boys & 2 girls are selected as the runner up & recipient each year. Tim Coad has been selected as the Captain of the boys team to represent Tasmania at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Brisbane this April. Each State & Territory selects 11 boys & 11 girls as representatives from the under 13 age group to compete each year. Congratulations to both boys & their families on recieving such enormous recognition from TLAA!  

Centre Championships Day 3

The final day of our Centre Championships was partially marred by rain. As a result, the Under 13, 14 & 15 Girls & Under 12 Boys were unable to complete their High Jump events. These events will be held at 8.30am on the morning of our Handicap & Presentation day - Saturday 13 March.

Medal Rush at State Individual Championships

Clarence athletes have finshed the Championships with a swag of medals. A VERY special thank you to all the parents who were rostered onto duties over the weekend. Not once did the announcer have to ask a second time for our helpers or officials - a first in my 6 years at CLAC. Fantastic help & co-operation everyone!

Julia Flys on final day

Julia Bazan has equalled the under 14 girls 70m record on the last day of 2009/10 competition. Despite the drizzle, Julia matched the record with a 10.3s dash. Well done Julia!

Presentation Day & 100m Handicap

Our annual presentation day has been moved this year to incorporate the running of the 100m handicap that was so successful in the Gala day last year. Start time is 9.30am. All medallions, most improved trophies & special recognitions & awards will be presented after the handicap. 

Committee 2010/11

We will need several new people to step up for the Committee next season. Our AGM will be held in early May, and by then we will need to replace as many as 5  of the current committee. PLEASE talk to Roger Hosie or anyone else on the current Committee if you think you can assist us. It really is the best way to get a deeper understanding of the Association, the sport & the club - which will open up opportunities for your children! No experience or athletics qualifications neccesary!  

Cross Country 2010

The southern Little Athletics Cross country series started last year & proved to be extremely popular. This year we hope to have a bigger & better season. The first event is on at Bellerive Beach on the 10th of April. Races start at 10.30am. Cost is $2.50 per athlete capped at $7.00 per family for registered Little Athletes, and $20 registration plus the above for non-registered athletes.
