WOW, lots of PBs again on PB day number 2 and great to see Records still falling! Congratulations to Blake H U15 300m Hurdles, old record 46.8, new Record 44.1 and Nicholas C U13 200m Hurdles, old record 30.6, new Record 30.5.
It’s a quick turn around this week, because of the NW All State Meeting next weekend in Penguin, we are unable to run a CLAC Meet when a State Meet is scheduled on Saturday so we are .back for our Second Twilight Meet, this Wednesday kicking off a 5pm for warm-ups.
Set Up / Pack Up: please arrive at 4:15pm to help set up and stay for pack up. If you’re unsure what is required simply ask ?? Please be aware of the date of your Duty, you can find the Calendar here: http://www.clarence.org.au/calendar/ if you are not available please swap with another family, if you do not know any other families, let us know. THANK YOU to those who are turning up as first timers and keen to learn the ropes.
AGCs & Volunteers: Thank you to those parents/guardians who volunteered on Saturday. The more families that can be involved the better and the likelihood of our Centres long term survival.
Many of the current Committee members are approaching the end of their family’s involvement with Little Aths. Remember we once were just like you; we did not know what to do either! Get involved if you and your family are planning to continue in little aths for the next few seasons, succession planning is the only way CLAC has kept being so strong for such a long time.
Uniforms: Uniforms will be available for sale for the first 30 minutes on Wednesday, so please ensure you head there first thing. U13s who did not pre-order a warm-up top we did get a couple of extra’s so they will go quick at $35.00 each. We cannot get any more after that as the minimum order was 20 shirts.
We have the new hoodies in stock and new caps. We take EFTPOS and Cash for uniform sales.
Name Badges: Are distributed through the Age Group folders as they become available, expect the next batch on the 19th of December.
Notice Board: Did you notice the noticeboard?? It’s on the wall outside the canteen. There is a lot of information pinned there. If you’re still not sure please ask one of the committee members, our faces are now on the notice board and on our website so you can track us down.
Training: Training has not commenced at Clarence High yet due to no volunteers available. We are working behind the scenes on this, but realistically it won’t be available until the new year.
Supervision/Safety: Remember a strict condition of our insurance is you cannot drop kids and leave; there must always be a guardian present when kids are at Little Athletics. Significant problems have arisen in some age groups already, particularly when there is nobody to assist in your child’s events or there is an injury.
IMPORTANT !! We had a near miss at the long jump / shot put area last weekend; it’s very important to be supervising children while watching the bigger kids in action. Please be careful when standing near our throwing sites in particular, being hit by an errant Javelin, Discus or Shot Put is not much fun for anyone. These apparatus all derive from old world hunting to kill methods, making them extremely dangerous. This is why we are so strict around supervision while using any equipment and reminding spectators / athletes nearby to be very cautious.
Please ensure children are not playing with or on equipment while not competing (eg: no practising with shot puts etc). Hopefully most kids know this is not safe, however our new families may not be aware, please discuss this with your athletes.
Also please do not let your kids play in our storage/equipment shed, otherwise we may need to revert to locking the doors which will become a problem should access be needed. It’s simply not a safe place to play.
Please continue to walk BEHIND THE DISCUS CAGE to enter or exit the bottom field.
Defibrillator: We have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available at the Canteen, if ever the need arises. Please ensure each family member is aware of this. We also keep our first aid kit at the canteen, it’s available for minor repairs.
Registrations: Every athlete should now be registered. If you need to provide proof of age, please bring a document with DOB on it, such as birth certificate, Medicare immunisation record or passport to the Tower asap. There is a current list on the notice board, please check this list to ensure we don’t need to sight your documents; if we do you can bring them to our next meet on 19 December.
North West All State – Penguin – 12 December 2020: This is a State Event, therefore full CLAC uniform is required and parents and guardians are required to help at events. At the moment this is being run on a voluntary basis and so far is working well, so please ensure you dig in to help so we don’t have to go back to scheduling people to help on events. You are allowed to help at your own child’s event (except at the State Individual Championships). Chief Official Duties will be distributed by Dana as soon as she is advised by LATAS. There will be no bus organised due to lack of interest at this time. U13 Fast Track members are required to meet up at the Discus Cage at 9am as usual, bring your Fast Track tops or your new CLAC warm-up tops
State Relays: Keep an eye out for more information about the State Relays which will be held in Launceston on 6 February 2021. We will investigate a bus for this event, which would be circa $30 a seat return. Expressions of interest will be sought commencing 19 December for teams and we shall finalise teams by mid to late January; this is a great day out and we often enter multiple teams for each age group. Athletes must nominate at CLAC to be considered for Relay teams, more info to come.
State Multi Champs: 16 and 17 January 2021– Penguin, held over 2 days for U13s and Up (16th &-17th), with U9s and up on day 2 (17th).
Tiny Tots: There is no Tiny Tots program this week. See you at 10:15 on the 19th for our final Meet pre Christmas; parents think about taking over the lead role for this group, if I can do it so can you!
COVID Safety: Reminder to keep socially distanced when watching, household groups can sit close, but other household members should maintain at least the 1.5M gap. Hand sanitizer is available and we ask that you regularly use it.
Canteen: BBQ will be in action for our Twilight meeting. We can now take EFTPOS at the Canteen however there is a $5 spend minimum via EFTPOS; we still take cash.
Looking forward to seeing you again this week, be your best, that is all you can be!
