First Day Back At CLAC done & dusted!

Congratulations on a wonderful first day back at CLAC!

We had 194 PBs (Personal Best performances) all up (boys 102 and girls 92) which is outstanding and 1 local record, from 148 competing athletes!

Congratulations to Blake H for breaking the U15B 200m record that has stood for 11 years. Old record 25.3, new record 25.1

THANK YOU to all our volunteers, old and new. Please advise our announcer in the tower anytime you require help at Events, either technical or just more hands.

A reminder to please not cross the throws area on the lower arena between the Discus and Javelin. We have athletes potentially throwing mid 30m-40m in both of these Events which does not leave much space for people to cross safely. PLEASE GO AROUND THE BACK OF THE DISCUS CAGE if you must cross here at all.

Reminder: we have a Twilight this FRIDAY (20th November) due to the LATAS Southern All State comp on Saturday. Volunteers to set up from 4.15 for a 5pm start would be fantastic. BBQ sausages will be available for dinner.

RESULTS from the State Multi Event Championships are now available on the Little Athletics Tasmania website.

Congratulations to all athlete's who competed in the event, both as individuals and in the new teams event. A special congrats to our record breakers from across the weekend. A total of four Multi Event records were broken, with Mia Gilmour (U10), Sianna Adkins (U11), Abbey Berlese (U14) and Isaac Dixon (U13) all setting new records in their age groups.

In addition to the Multi Event records, there was two records set in individual events. Chelsea Scolyer (BNE) set a new U15 200m record of 25.6 with South Launceston's Ruby Jones setting a new mark in the U12 Hurdles of 14.0. Mia Gilmour (HD) equaled the U10 Hurdles record of 10.9.

RELAYS - error on email, State Relays are on SATURDAY 6th FEB (not Sunday), form has now been updated. All details are below:

This year the LATas State Relay Championships will be held in Launceston at the St. Leonards Athletics track.

To nominate your athlete for this event please use our online form.

Please note only online entries will be considered, see a committee member if you are unable to nominate on the above link.

Details:

Saturday 6 February 2021 - commencing at 9 am
St Leonards Athletics Track, Launceston

Relay heats and finals for U8-U15 registered athletes.

The Championship events include the following:

U8 - U15 4 x 100m relay
U9 - U15 4 x 200m relay
U9 - U15 Swedish relay (1x100m, 1x200m, 1x300m & 1x400m)
U8 - U15 Field Event relay
Cost: $8 per person per Relay at a maximum of $16 (CLAC will cover the remaining costs).

Entries close 4 pm, 25th January 2021 with teams announced shortly thereafter. Training is compulsory for Team Members.

Please note - as per National restrictions we are not able to offer Championship events of any form to Under 6 and Under 7 athletes. An "invitational" relay will be offered to Under 6 and Under 7 athletes with participation, ribbons to be awarded. There will be no charge for these events.

Team Managers are required once teams are finalised, please volunteer, this helps with the communication of details to teams leading up to and on the day of the Relays.

This is a nomination form only from which the Centre will enter teams based on the rules outlined in the LATas Bylaws (page 15). Payment of the athlete's total entry fee to CLAC can be made at a meet on or before Saturday 30 January 2021. Only athletes who have paid their required entry fee to CLAC by this date will be able to participate.

All enquiries to clarence@taslittleathletics.com.au or speak with one of the CLAC Committee at our next meet. Parents of attending athletes will be required to fulfill official and/or helper duties.

If we have more odd numbers in the age group, athletes may be considered for reserves or can still attend as non-centre aligned 'additional' athletes.

We are exploring a bus for this event just for CLAC athletes and families, we expect this will be provided at a maximum cost of $15 per seat return.

ONLY NOMINATE FOR THIS EVENT IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELLING TO LAUNCESTON TO COMPETE – other Teammates will be disappointed if they travel and can not compete. If you have to withdraw due to injury or illness, please email immediately. If it is on the day of the competition please call your Team Manager.

Results are now up for our Twilight on Wednesday 13th Jan. Thank you all for your patience as we have had some members away with LATAS Camp and State Multi in Penguin this last week.

More Records fell - a big Congratulations to:

Blake H U15B 400m (record since 2009 57.7) New Record 57.6s

Jemima G U11G triple jump, old record 8.84 New Record a MASSIVE 9.08m.

Toby S also equaled U6B 100m record 19.7s

Lot's of information will be coming to you this week regarding results, relays, nominations etc, so please be sure to check back. We try to ensure everyone has access to anything we publish so we update Facebook, our Website and Email as well - this is a mammoth effort so please ensure you read it when you see it so we're all on the same page, we'd hate for your athlete to miss out or for you to be confused or miss an important safety message etc in this busy time of our season.

PS: Welcome Back badges for those 95 athletes who competed on the 2nd of January are on their way - we'll distribute through your Age Group folders once arrived, hold tight!
