Please meet the CLAC Committee at the Domain Track 40 minutes prior to our start to help retrieve equipment from containers and set up all Event sites including track gates etc. If you have not done this duty before please just let us know and we can give you jobs to do. It is also important that you help pack all the equipment away at the end of the Meet too. Please ask how if you are unsure as we want to be make sure that Hobart Districts equipment is correctly placed back in containers. If all families listed (one member only required) turn up, this should be light work for us all and you won’t be asked for a number of weeks! If you can not do the duty this week please swap with someone you know. If you don’t know anyone yet, please advise us asap.
This Sunday is PROGRAM 2, please note events may change and/or run in a different order so please do not plan on only turning up for a favourite event as you may be disappointed.
TINY TOTS program will start at 12.15pm.
We will fire up the BBQ & have sausages for sale over lunch time. If anyone is able to help – we really need you!!! Please just come and take over.
UNIFORM will be available for sale from 10.30 – 12noon. This will be the last time to buy uniform until we get back to Clarence High on 14th November. EFTPOS and Cash.
AS ALWAYS PLEASE FOLLOW OUR COVID SAFE PLAN AND IF YOU FEEL UNWELL PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND.
RACE WALKS INFO: Tomorrow we will start our Race Walks for the first time this Season. Walks are a very technical event and we want all our athletes to learn good habits early. As with all Events, athletes can be disqualified in Walks for the wrong technique. Judges will be at points around the track giving warnings and communicating with athletes, please let your athlete know to listen out for this. This is not to be received as criticism, it is simply a part of the event, to advise what athlete is being warned about (technique etc). Of course there will be coaching for our new athletes, as we are aware they need to learn, however disqualification will be given if the athlete runs, same as if a foul was listed in Long Jump or an incorrect throwing technique etc. This ensures the athlete does not form habits that will end up in fouls or disqualification at State Events. We want to set our CLAC athletes up for success. The athlete can finish the race.
See some handy Race Walk information HERE, please ignore the athlete age details.
On that note, we are VERY EXCITED to announce that graduated CLAC athlete WILL ROBERTSON will be attending to help out our new Race Walkers. Will is the Tasmanian Little Athletics State and CLAC record holder for U14 and U15 1500m Walk. He is the U17 National Champion and Open State Champion for the 5000m Walk. Will also represented Australia at the Oceania Championships in 2019. We are extremely proud of him!
You can watch Will on Youtube HERE !! We look forward to welcoming Will back to CLAC and thank him greatly for his time.
