BASIC INFORMATION FOR CONDUCTING EVENTS
These fact sheets are suitable for members who have little or no knowledge of the conduct of Little Athletics Events. They are a very useful guide which will advise of :

Coloured Personal Improvement Awards (Badges)
are awarded for first performance (green), first improved performance (blue) and second improved performance (red) with a minimum number of performance required. These are handed out by your Age Group Coordinator (AGC) once achieved and are sewn on the back of the competition top in a row from top to bottom. You will find a more detailed explanation in our Manual.
Gold Star Awards (Badges)
these may be claimed in the four areas of Sprints, Distance, Throws, Jumps. To claim an Award the athlete must qualify once in TWO events from the group. You will find a more detailed explanation, including qualifying standards, in the Manual. These are handed out by your Age Group Coordinator (AGC) once achieved and are sewn on the back of the competition top in a row from top to bottom.
Event Awards (Badges)
these are presented for the number of events an athlete competes in during the season. Cloth badges are available for 25, 50, 75 and 100 events. Events are counted by the number of events the athlete competes in at CLAC, at another LATas Centre or at LATas State conducted meets. These are handed out by your Age Group Coordinator (AGC) once achieved and are sewn on the back of the competition top in a row from top to bottom.
Personal Best (PBs)
Little Athletics is all about improving your personal bests so that's why we reward little athletes who continually improve their PBs. These are highlighted on Meet results with a red mark 'PB'. We even hold a PB day where athletes strive for one PB that Meet to achieve another badge, the PERSONAL BEST Badge, which is sewn onto the sleeve of a polo or under the arm pit of a singlet.
LATAS UNDER 13 SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS
Each year the LATAS Board accepts nominations from registered under 13 athletes for the Tasmanian LATAS Under 13 Sportsmanship Award, which is presented at the State Individual Championships. Each Centre puts forward one girl and one boy as their nominee after a vote by their committee.
Under 13 athletes / parents are able to make a submission to the CLAC Board.
Criteria to be addressed in the nomination:
CONCERN Nominees shall have demonstrated that they place concern for others above themselves and are committed to the spirit of Little Athletics.
RESPECT During competition the athlete must demonstrate a respect of the rules and the officials charged with their enforcement and maintain standards of behaviour in and out of athletics that reflect their worth to be considered for the award.
IMPROVEMENT Nominees shall demonstrate, during practice and competition, a constant desire to improve and achieve higher levels of skills and performance which reflect their commitment to Little Athletics and its ideals.
DETERMINATION Nominees shall strive with consistent determination to achieve their personal goals, doing so without complaining or resorting to alibi’s, even if things seems to go wrong.
ENTHUSIASM Nominees shall look forward to compete and reflect an attitude of enthusiasm in both participation and self improvement.
