Our Commitment to Child Safety
Clarence Little Athletics Centre is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all children and young people who engage in activities at our centre.
We will strive to protect all children from harm, and will not tolerate child abuse, harm, or neglect, of any sort.
We remain dedicated to the well-being of children, we will listen to their views, respect their rights, and empower them to be involved in decisions affecting them.
We encourage all members to take responsibility for child safety, and to report any concerns they have.
Clarence Little Athletics Centre complies with the Child and Youth Organisations Framework, established under the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Act 2023.
We adhere to the Child Safe Policy as set out by Little Athletics Tasmania. The policy can be found here: https://taslittleathletics.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/16-Child-Safe-Policy.pdf
If you are child or young person feeling unsafe, or an adult concerned that a child is being subjected to inappropriate or unsafe behaviour, this is what you can do:
Talk to a SAFE adult of Clarence Little Athletics:
- Fiona in the tower. She will listen to you – photographs of Fiona and the committee are included in the manual and on the website.
- Find a committee member wearing a maroon top. They will listen to you.
- Send us an email: clarence@taslittleathletics.com.au – this email address goes to just two people – the secretary, Kim, and president, Belinda. They will listen to you.

Child and Youth Safe Standards

Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
Under the requirements of the Child and Youth Organisations Framework, ALL people who volunteer to work with children must have a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People. (RWVP card, or previously, Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card.)
All roles undertaken by adults at Clarence Little Athletics – committee, parents/carers/grandparents alike – that involves interacting with children, requires the volunteering adult to have a RWVP Card. Helping at a field site, measuring throws, raking the sand, organising children at the finish or start line; no job is exempt under the legislation. So please, when you bring your children to our centre each meet, we need your help for the events to go ahead, but you MUST have a RWVP card on you. Your Age Group Co-ordinator or committee member will regularly ask to see it.
If you do not already have a RWVP card, applications can be made here: https://www.justice.tas.gov.au/rwvp
If you do not hold a RWVP card, you will be required to stay in the viewing areas to the side of the track or field.
